Contact Lens Evaluation

Contact lenses are different from a glasses prescription because they sit directly on the eyes. Contacts come in different sizes and lens materials. Therefore, you need a contact lens evaluation so your optometric physician can determine the best lens type for you. Remember that contact lenses can be a great alternative for glasses but you should not consider them a replacement for your glasses. To be considered for contacts, you must first have a comprehensive eye exam.

On the same day of your comprehensive eye exam or within 60 days, you can request a contact lens evaluation. The evaluation includes a professional fitting to determine the best lens type for you, instruction on how to properly insert and remove lenses, instruction on how to properly care for and handle your new contacts, and in most cases, a trial pair of clear soft lenses. If we do not have your trial lens in stock, we will have to order it and it takes up to one week. On the rare occasion that you need a custom lens, a trial may not be available. Upon approving of the comfort, clarify, and function, you will be approved for a one-year supply of contacts. Contacts can be prescribed to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and presbyopia.

During the evaluation, your optometric physician will ask you a series of questions to determine the best lens type for you. Most evaluations include a trial pair of clear soft lenses that you should receive during your exam. If we do not have your specific contact type or power, we will have to order it and they usually arrive within one week. In the rare occasion that you need a custom lens, a free trial may not be available or could take longer than one week.

First-time wearers or new-brand wearers may be asked to return for a follow-up visit to reassess the comfort and clarity of your new contacts. Our goal is for you to be completely satisfied with contacts. Get in touch with Amerine Eye Care today.

Contact Lens Training

All first-time contact wearers require a training session on how to safely remove and insert contacts. You will be required to demonstrate your ability to perform both of these actions before leaving. Because we understand the same technique doesn’t work for everyone, you can feel confident that our knowledgeable staff will work with you to find your individual technique.

A contact lens care kit which includes a trial-sized bottle of saline solution and a disposable case will be provided to you during all first-time training sessions.
